Frequently Asked Questions
-
For all commissions, 50% of the total price is required before the artwork begins. The remainder of the cost, and shipping (only applies for international orders) is due before the artwork is shipped.
Once your form has been submitted, I will send an email with any further questions, clarifications and discussion about your ideal piece. I may request more photos if I don’t deem any suitable to work from. I will let you know about any additional costs that may incur based on your choices, i.e multiple subjects, details or working from a low quality image.
Once we have agreed on a photo/colour scheme/pose I will let you know my timeframe and when I expect to have the piece completed by. It can be as little as two weeks or multiple months depending on my calender. I can attempt to compete artwork within short notice, it just also may incur another fee to guarantee arrival before a chosen date, depending on the proximity. If all is agreed, I will send through payment details.
Once the artwork is completed, I will send you a photo of the final piece, and further instructions for shipping timeline. Final payment is due before the artwork is sent.

Yes, but it depend greatly on the reference image. If the subjects are not in the same reference image, I will struggle to combine them. But if the image I’m working from already contains both subjects (ie. two cats sitting next to each other), I can work from it, which will have a cost of ___ per additional subject. Depending on the nature of the image, I will require a larger size, at least 8 × 8 inches to capture more detail. In special circumstances I can combine two images, but it will incur another additional fee, as it gives greater difficulty in making the artwork cohesive in lighting, colour and proportion. I will generally recommend options around bundling separate artworks of different subjects rather than forcing combining them when it will result in a drop of quality in the final artwork.

High quality, front facing images or three-quarter view are the easiest to work from and will give the best results. Try to avoid images that are taken too close to the subject, as these skew the proportions, especially with pets. I understand their are circumstances where additional photos are not possible when a loved one has passed, and I will try my best to accommodate the reference photos you have available to you. If the photos are particularly low quality and no other photos are possible I may request an additional fee for the added difficulty. Generally as a rule, the better quality the images, the more information I have to work from and the better the artwork will be.

My prices are a reflection of the number of hours it takes me to complete the artwork according to NZ Living Wage. This also considers the cost of the materials, and the additional time for the consultation and planning stages. My artworks are an accumulation of the years and years I have been improving and practicing my art, so this is also considered. I am aware that some prices might be beyond your budget, so I offer my more affordable graphite portraits for these circumstances. I am thankful and appreciative of any sale as it supports a young, independent artist like myself support their living and pay the bills.

Yes, but only through special consultation about the subject and price. My prices listed are for pets or head/head and shoulder style person portraiture. Beyond that would require a more extensive discussion process and higher prices for a larger artwork. I will be selective of the subject material and the quality of the image, and both can be challenging for a larger piece. Especially with figurative style artworks with multiple elements. Please reach out and see what I can do for you!
